Location: New York, NY 52 glass tubes pendants of various lengths were created and hand like stalactites from the ceiling. SPAN Architects conceived the idea and Aurora's team of fabricators including Michael Davis Stained Glass figured out how to make the concept work. Do to the hang blown nature of the glass and the differing lengths, each piece of glass is different. Aurora fabricated 3/8" thick steel molds. Michael Davis Glass did a superb job of blowing the glass cylinders - some as long as 42" which is no easy feat. Because of the hand blown techniques used, each of the pendants is different and countless wave like patterns are created as the light from the tiny Xenon lamp passes through the glass. The result is very dramatic as visually pleasing. |
