Location: 99 Central Park West at West 70th St., New York, NY

The Synagogue of the Congregation Shearith Israel, New York’s oldest Jewish congregation, was built in 1896-1897. The building went through an extensive restoration (both interior and exterior) during 2001-2002 including all of the lighting fixtures throughout the Main Synagogue and the adjacent Little Synagogue.

The scope of the project included the removal and extensive treatment of surface oxidation, hand-patination, and replating, as well as the fabrication of missing parts including new glass diffusers. Several gas-burning fixtures were rewired to meet UL standards.
